Housekeeping Attendant

Hours: Part-time, up to 24 hours per week, with potential for more hours as available. Work days to include Sunday, Monday and Friday.

About our position:

The Housekeeping Attendant is responsible to make a clean, safe and welcoming environment for guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Thoroughly clean the areas assigned:

  • Outside bathrooms daily when there are guests and weekly otherwise.
  • Public areas, (Seaview and Oceanside dining room, entry at front and behind the dining room) daily when there are guests, otherwise weekly.
  • Elevator tower stairs and landings, windows and doors at least weekly, every day when guests are present. Elevator weekly or every day when guests are present.
  • Assist with cleaning Josephine House whenever guests leave (Main Room, bathroom, kitchen, dishes and hallways).
  • Assist with Chapel cleaning as necessary.
  • Assist with guestroom cleaning in each building on guest departure, when necessary.

2. Assist with special events:

  • Ironing table linens and other materials as needed.
  • Setting tables with tableware, glasses and plates as assigned.
  • Setting out pre-set foods and beverages.
  • Serve the meal courses.
  • Assist with clearing dishes after each course and preparing them for the dishwasher.

3. Assist with the laundry:

  • Collecting and sorting linens from guest rooms, kitchen and Chapel.
  • Correctly loading washers and driers and using the appropriate kind and amounts of detergents.
  • Emptying dryers and folding or ironing the linens as needed.
  • Preparing “bundles” of linens for remaking guest rooms.
  • Distributing the linens to the proper places.

4. Daily check-out with Housekeeping Manager to provide update on status of rooms and grounds, such as need for repairs, need for supplies, replacement of furnishings, etc.

5. Perform other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education: On-the-job training in commercial laundry or housekeeping settings.

Experience: At least two years of work experience related to laundry or housekeeping preferable.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

1. Must be supportive of the mission of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary.

2. Must model SNJM Guiding Values in carrying out work activities and responsibilities.

3. Be able to follow directions given by manager or posted on daily schedule.

4. Ability to use standard cleaning machines.

5. Flexibility.

6. Ability to work with others.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND/OR WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. Exposure to latex, detergents, fumes, airborne particles, and high noise levels.

2. Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, lift above the head and carry up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.

3. Able to stand for long periods of time, walk around the property and walk up and down stairs on a regular basis.

Pay Rate: $20/hour.  Buffet lunch provided each work day.
